Monika Meets ~ Paige Leanne
This week we take 5 with East London based Creative and long time friend, Paige Leanne 💛
Where are you originally from?
Sussex, England. But now I live in East London.
What do you love about London?
The array of people, things to do, places to see and that everything is on my doorstep!
Can you recommend some good spots?
London Fields in the summer is the best, Broadway Market on a Saturday is full of amazing stalls and vintage clothing. She’s Lost Control is a great crystal and spiritual shop on Broadway. Beyond Retro in Dalston is the best one, I always find something amazing in there!
For coffee I love Pavilion or Aya & Suki for a matcha, Climpsons do the best cinnamon rolls and E5 Bakehouse do the best hot chocolate. Cycling over to East Village is also great for a change of scenery, Tina We Salute is there and is a good evening drinks spot and if you want a good old pub then The Dove does good beers and a pint of chips (which I have been known to eat for dinner more than I like to admit!).
What do you like to do to stay creative?
People watching, Columbia Road Flower Market is a fashion show every Sunday and I always leave feeling inspired by what people are wearing. I also love sitting outside the pub watching people go by, taking inspiration from their outfits and keeping me feeling creative.
For online, Pinterest is my biggest source of how I stay creative. Whether that be interiors, architecture, vintage fashion or icons I admire.
What have you been listening to recently?
A lot of Pink Floyd and Radiohead
Three things you can’t live without?
My leather jacket, film camera and skincare products (I have a lot!)
One person, dead or alive, who would you say is your style icon?
This is super hard to pin down! I’m honestly inspired by anyone that listens to music I love and wears cowboy boots!
Monika The Label is heavily influenced by my love for all the best parts of the 70s, if you could go back to any decade which one would it be? Or would you go explore the future instead?
I would go back to the late 60’s/ early 70’s, I can absolutely see myself living in a camper van, exploring the wave of psychedelics, walking barefoot and wearing nothing but a kaftan. Oh and of course hugging tree’s and being a part of a hippie commune!
